About this book

So, you or someone you love just got the crab allergy diagnosis. Your head is spinning. You're thinking: Does this mean I'm going to stop breathing? Is every seafood restaurant now a minefield? Did I do something to cause this? Take a breath. This guide is here to uncomplicate things.

Written like a knowledgeable friend who happens to know a lot about medicine, this book cuts through the jargon and the fear. We'll walk through what crab allergy actually is — from the moment your body decides crab is an enemy to the chemicals that cause the symptoms you feel. Then we'll get practical: how the diagnosis is made, what your treatment options really are (with honest trade-offs), and how to manage daily life without letting the allergy run the show.

There's no false hope and no catastrophizing here. Just clear, compassionate, plain-language information. Whether you're the patient or the caregiver, this guide gives you the knowledge to feel prepared, the vocabulary to talk to your doctor, and the confidence to live your life without apology. This is an informational guide only — it does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.

This guide is honest, which I appreciate, but it's not the cozy read the subtitle promises. I'm a caregiver, and the chapter for me was helpful, but I wanted more specific allergy info and less pep talk. The first chapter did calm me down — I had no idea what anaphylaxis actually was. It's a good starter, just not the complete answer. I guess I expected a bit more depth, but for a plain-English overview, it does the job. I'll keep it on my shelf.
