About this book

Yoga and pilates have become fixtures in gyms, studios, corporate wellness programs, and home practice spaces. Yet most people—including many professionals—rely on marketing, social media, or inherited assumptions rather than systematic understanding of how these practices actually work, what distinguishes quality from mediocrity, or how to build a sustainable operation around them.

This handbook is written for professionals, business owners, and serious practitioners who need practical, usable knowledge. It covers the actual biomechanical and philosophical foundations of yoga and pilates; the different types, formats, and configurations available; how to choose the right approach for your specific context; proper setup and progression; routine maintenance and common problems; the landscape of brands and business models; where the category is headed; and the resources and standards that serious practitioners should know about.

I picked this up expecting another fluffy wellness guide, but it's genuinely useful. The first chapter alone clarifies the difference between yoga and pilates in ways my training never did—the biomechanics explanation and the progression frameworks are exactly what I needed for my studio. My only complaint is I wish there was more on programming for specific injuries; the troubleshooting section touches on it but doesn't go deep enough for a PT context. Still, this is the reference book I'll actually keep on my desk.
