This is a genuinely useful resource for our practice's supply management. The bristle stiffness grading and material breakdown in Chapter 1 alone saved us from stocking the wrong product for our pediatric wing. My only complaint is that the business chapter could have included more sample contract language or pricing case studies—we still had to learn that through trial and error.

Finally, a book that treats toothbrushes as the precision devices they actually are instead of consumer commodities. I'm a dental hygienist and have been recommending this to colleagues. The section on how bristle geometry affects subgingival plaque removal is exactly the kind of evidence-based detail that's missing from every manufacturer brochure I've seen. Highly recommend if you work in dentistry or retail.

Very solid reference. The maintenance chapter was especially helpful for our clinic—we'd been replacing toothbrushes on a guessed schedule until I read the bristle wear indicators and cross-contamination protocols. One note: some of the manufacturer specs in Chapter 6 could use more recent pricing data, but the business model explanations are still solid and haven't changed much.

I bought this expecting a consumer buying guide and got something much more technical. The detail about oscillation frequencies, handle weight distribution, and motor torque is deep, maybe too deep if you just want to know which toothbrush to buy for yourself. But if you work in dental supply or manage a practice, this is your book. It just assumes more baseline knowledge than I had going in.

Comprehensive, but I found myself wishing there was more clarity on what the 'best' choice actually is for common scenarios. The handbook does a good job explaining the specs and tradeoffs, but I wanted more of a decision tree or recommended brands/models for specific situations. Still useful, but more of a reference to dip into than a guide you follow cover to cover.

The Chapter 2 section on bristle stiffness grades and how they're actually measured across manufacturers is something our team had to learn the hard way—would have been worth the book price just for that.

Solid handbook with good technical depth. The regulated materials section and sustainability trends chapter are particularly relevant now. I did find some sections overly detailed for a dental office manager—I didn't need all the motor torque data—but the core selection and maintenance guidance is practical and saves time versus digging through five different vendor PDFs.
