About this book

Sink caddies are one of the most widely used yet least documented kitchen implements. Most buyers rely on a photo and a price tag. This handbook changes that. It breaks down sink caddies by material grade (stainless alloys, polymer families, coated steel), construction method, wire gauge, and coating thickness, so you can compare products from different vendors on actual specifications rather than marketing language.

The book covers the full lifecycle: how to measure a sink and choose a caddie that fits properly, how to install it without damaging the basin, how to maintain it through daily use and periodic deep cleaning, and how to diagnose the most common failure modes, such as coating delamination, weld fatigue, and suction-cup failure. For professionals, it includes a detailed chapter on the wholesale market, private labeling, and servicing business models, plus a look at how material regulations and dishwasher-safety standards are shaping the next generation of products.

Written for procurement officers, facility managers, rental property owners, and serious home users, this is the reference we wish existed before we bought our first caddie. It is dense with tables, checklists, and field-tested procedures, and it stays neutral on brands, giving you the criteria to judge any product on its merits.

I bought this for our restaurant's kitchen manager because we keep having issues with our dish station setup. Chapter 1 is thorough on the mechanics, and the chapter on types and specifications is genuinely useful. But honestly, this book is way more than we needed for a single commercial kitchen. It reads like it's written for someone who's going to resell caddies, not just use them. The business chapter feels out of place for a handbook. If you're a property manager or a small restaurant owner, you'll use maybe half this book. It's well written and accurate, just broader than its target seems to be.

I manage a janitorial supply company and we've been carrying two cheap caddie models that come back with rust complaints. This handbook gave me the language to evaluate what we're actually buying. The wire gauge and material-grade breakdown in chapter one changed how I talk to our supplier. Chapter 2 is the real meat, though, and it's excellent. My only complaint is the installation chapter is overkill, and the chapter on future trends feels speculative, almost like filler. But as a professional reference, it's solid. I'd have preferred more on wholesale pricing structures, but it does point you in the right direction.
