There's a lot of content on the physics of signal propagation which, while thorough, felt like overkill for someone who just wants to buy a booster for their workshop. The troubleshooting chapter is probably the most useful part for me. It's a good reference to have on the shelf, but I wouldn't call it a page-turner.

I picked this up hoping for a straightforward buying guide with specific product recommendations. Instead, I got a lecture on specs and download gain values. It's very comprehensive and I can tell the author knows their stuff, but it feels more geared towards a company writing an RFP than a serious hobbyist like myself. If you're an absolute beginner, this might be too technical. If you're a pro, it's probably perfect.

Finally, a reference that treats the reader like a competent adult instead of a shopper to be herded into a sales funnel. We run long-haul trucks and have tried every kind of booster under the sun with mixed results. The chapter on Choosing the Right Booster helped me stop buying on price and start measuring our real needs. The explanation of MIMO and how it applies to band-locked devices was worth the price alone. This is the standard manual for our fleet now.

There is a lot of good information here, but the writing is incredibly dry. It took me a while to get through the first few chapters because it felt like reading a government regulations document. I understand the technical need for accuracy, but a few real-world examples of installations gone wrong or right would've kept me engaged. The business opportunities chapter is interesting and offers a few ideas I hadn't considered. A good reference, but not an engaging read.
