The maintenance section alone is worth the price, because we were tossing brushes we could have been cleaning and storing properly. It's a dry read, but that's exactly what I wanted.

The book does what it says – it's thorough, neutral, and not trying to sell me anything. I found the engineering detail in the first chapters fairly heavy, and I'd have liked a few more clear diagrams to visualize the fill density and crimp comparisons. That said, the chapter on choosing the right brush for a specific surface was practical, and the business section was more useful than I expected, even for a small operation. I'll keep it as a reference, but I skipped some of the theory. The glossary at the end was actually the most useful part for me – it clarified terms our suppliers use but never explain.

The section on matching filament material to the surface and the cleaning chemical was absolutely correct and something I'd never seen spelled out so clearly. I gave it four stars instead of five because the chapter on brands felt a bit thin compared to the rest; it has a lot of generic advice on supplier positioning but less concrete detail on how to audit a specific manufacturer's quality. But the selection framework alone is worth the time.
