The Complete Handbook of Saxophones

This is exactly what I needed as a rental shop manager. I've been running my business mostly on experience and guesswork, but this handbook gave me real language for talking to customers about why one saxophone costs three times more than another, how to explain what regulation actually is, and a maintenance schedule I can actually implement. Chapter 6 alone paid for itself—I'm now setting up a basic restoration service based on what I learned about the business side. Finally, a book written for people who actually work with saxophones, not hobbyists.

Solid reference work with one caveat: Chapter 1's explanation of bore profiles and acoustics is genuinely useful, but I wish there were more diagrams showing cross-sections or measurement points. Otherwise it's comprehensive and well-organized—I've already bookmarked the troubleshooting section and recommended it to three other technicians. Good balance of theory and practical stuff.
