About this book

From the first sterile pack to the final healing check, the piercing needle is the most critical tool in your kit. This book provides a comprehensive and authoritative guide to understanding every aspect of these precision instruments, written for professionals and serious enthusiasts who demand practical knowledge over hype.

Inside, you will find a detailed breakdown of needle anatomy, steel metallurgy, and the manufacturing processes that separate a high-quality needle from a poor one. We go beyond the basics, covering how to match needle type and gauge to specific piercings and tissue types, proper handling and disposal protocols, and troubleshooting common problems. The book also examines the business side of the industry, including supplier selection, private labeling, and reselling, ensuring you have the knowledge to operate safely and profitably.

This is not a marketing piece or a beginner's guide. It is a field manual intended to be consulted, referenced, and trusted. Filled with concrete examples, specification tables, and expert advice, it is the one book every professional should have within arm's reach of their workbench.

This is the reference I wish I had when I first started apprenticing. The first half on steel grades and how the cannula is actually drawn is something that no other book or course ever covered properly. It's very technical in places, which I appreciated. I just wish it had a bit more on unusual piercings, like surface anchors using hollow needles, but for the core stuff it's spot on.

Solid, comprehensive, and definitely written by someone who knows their way around an autoclave. The chapter on troubleshooting is great, and I've already used the section on bevel alignment to fix a slant on forward helix piercings. My only real complaint is that it gets a little dry in the middle chapters on business strategy, but the technical content avoids the usual fluff I see on blogs.

I run a studio and got this to standardize our own training manual. The clarity on the difference between freehand and cannula methods, and the proper way to handle a needle after it's been used, is exactly what I needed to codify our procedures. The chapter on choosing the right needle is a little geared towards the solo piercer, but the buying and maintenance information alone is worth it. It's a good, no-frills reference.

Finally, a book that treats the piercing needle as the precision surgical instrument it is. The author doesn't just tell you what to use, they explain the physics and metallurgy behind why it works, like how the tri-bev point minimizes tissue trauma. I've been piercing for 12 years and thought I knew everything, but this book corrected a few of my habits, especially my grip during insertion. This is going to be required reading for my apprentices.

This is the most practical and detailed book on the subject I have ever found. It covers everything from the simple basics of choosing a gauge to the complex business side of private labeling needles. The detailed history and manufacturing process in the first chapters are worth the price alone. It is an absolute must-have for anyone serious about piercing to make a career out of it.
