But I was disappointed that the later chapters on brands didn't get into more specific product defects. It tells you what to look for but stops short of naming common failure points for specific manufacturers. Solid for a beginner, a bit basic for a shop vet like me.

The wheel offset and backspacing explanation alone was worth the price. I spent months on forums trying to work out why my new tires were rubbing, and this handbook explained it in a few pages. I knocked off a star because the installation chapter assumes you have a proper tire machine and balancer, which I don't, so I had to adapt the steps. If you're a home mechanic on a budget, just be aware it's written for a professional shop.

It's a comprehensive reference, no question, and the comparison table in Chapter 2 is handy. My gripe is the tone—it feels like a textbook at times, and I found my attention wandering. The future trends chapter had some interesting points, but it read more like a material science lecture than a practical guide for someone trying to decide on new wheels this year. It's fine as a reference, but not a page-turner.

The beadlock chapter is the definitive breakdown I've seen—it cleared up my confusion on semi vs. full beadlocks. The business chapter is also realistic about margins and liability, which is rare. It lost a star because the FAQ section felt a bit redundant with the rest of the book, and I don't think it added much new info.
