This handbook does what it promises—it's packed with actual technical information about mask types and specifications that I couldn't find organized in one place before. The Chapter 1 explanation of how the different respiratory mechanisms work made things click for me. My only complaint is that some of the maintenance procedures could use step-by-step photos or diagrams, especially the seal-testing part. Still, it's a solid reference I'll keep on the shelf.

Finally, a book written for people who actually use this equipment, not marketing departments. The real-world examples throughout Chapter 1—like why a SCBA works differently than a supplied-air mask in a backdraft scenario—are exactly what I needed to understand when to use what. The business section in Chapter 6 also surprised me; I had no idea there were this many viable service models. Highly recommend for anyone serious about respiratory protection.

One thing I wish it covered more deeply is the psychological side of mask use under extreme stress—the handbook mentions it but doesn't give much guidance on training users to manage panic.
