I'll start by saying this isn't a bad book, and I did get some useful information out of it, especially around the maintenance and lubrication sections. However, I felt the chapter on choosing a centrifuge could have been shorter and more direct. I was hoping for more on specific brand comparisons or real-world build quality differences, but it stays pretty general. It's a fine primer for a complete beginner, but I've been in the field for 12 years and a lot of this felt like a recap. Maybe better for a student or a lab manager ordering their first unit.

The content is accurate and well-organized, and the explanation of RCF versus RPM finally made it stick for my junior technician. My main gripes are with the layout. There are some good checklists, but they get buried in the long paragraphs and I found myself flipping around a lot trying to find a specific spec. It's a solid reference to have on the shelf, but it's not a quick-reference guide like I thought it would be. If the next edition had a clearer way to navigate to the tables, I would give it four stars.
