About this book

From the popping rivets on a driveway rim to the official specifications for competition-grade breakaway goals, this book is the only resource you need to understand what you are buying and why it matters. We don't care about endorsements or brand loyalty; we focus on steel gage, glass tempering standards, actuation spring rates, and anchor bolt torque specs. Whether you're purchasing a portable unit for a local recreation center or replacing a backboard on a public park court, every decision is broken down into measurable, comparable metrics.

I bought this because I manage a rec center and I was tired of replacing breakaway rims every season. Chapter 1’s breakdown of the actual spring mechanics and shock absorption rates was eye-opening. It confirmed my suspicion that we were buying the right rim but the wrong mounting hardware. The later chapters on installation torque specs are worth the price alone for any professional. I docked one star only because the brand-specific comparison section is thinner than I hoped; maybe that has to stay generic to remain timeless. Still, a serious reference tool.
