Let's start with the name itself: renal fibrosis. It sounds like a spell from a dark magic book, but it's really just two plain words stuck together. Renal simply means "having to do with the kidneys." You've got two of them, tucked up under your ribcage on either side of your spine. They're bean-shaped organs about the size of your fist, and they are the hardest-working filters in your body. Fibrosis means "the formation of excess scar tissue."
