Chapter 1: First Day
Welcome. Today is the day you find out what whittling actually feels like. Not what it looks like in videos, not what you imagine it's like, but the real weight of a knife in your hand, the grain of wood under your thumb, the first time you shave a curl off a stick and think, oh, I did that. This is not a class where you need to show up with twenty years of experience. You own nothing, you know nothing, and that is exactly where this plan starts.
Let's be honest about what day one is. It's not making a masterpiece. It's not even making anything that you'd be comfortable showing to another human. It's about getting your hands and your brain pointed at the same simple task, and finding out if this activity gives you a small spark of enjoyment or not. That's the whole point of this ten-day plan. By day ten, you'll be able to say with confidence either, yes, I want to keep doing this, or, this was interesting but it's not for me. Both are good, useful answers, and you're going to get to them by actually doing the work, not by watching someone else do it.
