Chapter 1: First Day

Welcome. You're here because you have some photos on your phone, maybe a shoebox of printed pictures, or a handful of ticket stubs from a trip you don't want to forget. And you've been wondering about scrapbooking, but every time you look it up, you see perfect pages with laser-cut titles and ribbons, and it feels like a hobby for someone with a craft room and a lot more patience than you have. Let me tell you right now: that's not where you're starting, and that's not where you need to be today.

Today, day one, is not about making something beautiful. It's about touching the materials and learning that they won't bite. It's about taking three photos and gluing them onto a piece of paper, and seeing what that feels like. That's it. That's your entire goal. And by the end of this first session, you will have a single finished page — a rough one, an imperfect one, but a real page that you made with your own hands. That's the win.

Let's talk about what your first session actually looks like. You'll need a few things, but not the fancy things yet. A flat surface — a kitchen table works fine. Some plain cardstock or even a piece of 8.5 by 11 paper cut in half. A few photos you're willing to experiment on — and I mean willing to experiment on, because you're going to cut one, and maybe that feels scary
