If you are reading this on a train or in a waiting room, that is fine too — but today's session will need a table, a cup of water, and about twenty minutes of your attention. Let's be clear about what today is not: it is not the day you make a masterpiece. It is not the day you buy a hundred dollars' worth of supplies. It is the day you get a feel for what this craft actually involves, with your hands on real materials, and you finish with something small and real that you made yourself.
Here is what resin art is, in plain terms. Resin is a two-part liquid plastic. You mix a resin part and a hardener part together, and the chemical reaction slowly turns the liquid into a solid, clear, glossy surface. Think of it like baking a cake from a box mix — you have two powders that need combining, and once they are mixed, you have a limited window of time before the mixture starts to set. This window is called "pot time" or "working time," and for most beginner resins, it is between thirty and forty-five minutes. That is your actual budget for today. You do not need to memorize that number yet. You just need to know it exists.
