Welcome. If you picked up this guide, you're probably curious about first aid and CPR, but you're not sure what it actually takes to learn. Maybe you've watched a video or two, or you've seen someone in a TV show press on a person's chest and yell for someone to call 911. Maybe you've thought, "I should know that," but you didn't know where to begin. This is where you begin.
Today is not about reading a manual. Today is about getting your hands involved, because that's the only way any of this will stick. You are going to learn what a first response actually feels like — not in a real emergency, but in a calm, controlled practice session that takes about thirty minutes. You'll need three things: a flat, soft surface like a rug or a carpeted floor, a rolled-up blanket or a thick towel, and your own two hands. That's it. If you have a timer on your phone, that will help later, but it's not required for day one.
