Chapter 1: First Day

Welcome to day one. You're here because you're curious about card making, and maybe a little intimidated. That's completely normal. I want you to know something right now: by the end of this first session, you will have made a real, physical card base that you can build on tomorrow. That's not a metaphor or a motivational trick. It's a concrete task you can finish in under an hour, and it will look exactly like a blank greeting card you could buy at a store.

Here's what you need to start. No fancy supplies, no trip to a craft store. Just a standard piece of paper or thin cardstock (printer paper works, but if you have something slightly stiffer, like a paper bag or a file folder, that's even better), a ruler, a pencil, and a pair of scissors. That's it. Before you do anything else, clear a small space on a table or counter. It doesn't need to be big—a foot by a foot and a half is plenty. You'll be cutting and folding, so you want a flat surface that's not your lap.

Now, let's talk about what you're going to feel. In the next ten days, you'll experience a mix of satisfaction and frustration. Today, you'll probably feel a little clumsy.
