At its most basic, a wall mount fan is an axial fan. The motor spins a propeller-style blade, which pushes air in a straight line along the axis of rotation. The air exits the blade as a column of motion, and the fan's usefulness is determined by how far that column travels, how wide it spreads, and how much air it actually displaces per minute.
