Vehicle license plate mounts and holders are the physical interface between a legally mandated identification plate and a moving vehicle. On the surface, the job is simple: hold the plate visibly and securely. In practice, this seemingly simple task involves managing vibration, weather, corrosion, impact forces, and legal requirements that vary from state to state and country to country. A mount is not merely a piece of plastic or metal you screw on; it is a small piece of engineering that must perform reliably for years, often without maintenance, in one of the harshest environments on a vehicle: the exterior surface where it is exposed to the full force of the elements, road debris, and car washes.
Consider what happens to a plate mounted on the front of a typical passenger car traveling at highway speed. The plate is on the leading edge of the vehicle, directly in the path of airflow.
