A toilet seat is a fixture that sits on top of a toilet bowl. A bidet seat is either a replacement seat with integrated cleaning nozzles, or a separate attachment that installs on top of an existing toilet seat. Both are high-touch, frequently-replaced hardware with real performance variation, material durability differences, and user-experience consequences that most buyers and facilities managers do not fully understand.
This matters because choosing the wrong one for a specific installation or user need results in poor hygiene outcomes, premature failure, water damage, user frustration, and wasted replacement and service costs. A toilet seat is a hinged, rigid cover that sits on the rim of a toilet bowl. It consists of a seat surface (the part you sit on), a cover (the part that closes over the bowl), hinges that connect these two pieces to a mounting bracket, and a fastening mechanism that attaches the bracket to the toilet bowl rim. The hinge mechanism controls how the seat and cover raise and lower, and whether they do so with automatic soft-close damping or simple gravity.
