A thread spool is a piece of industrial infrastructure that most people never think about until it fails. It is a cylinder, a shaft, or a form that holds a specific length of thread or yarn in a controlled orientation so that a machine or a hand worker can draw it off smoothly, under predictable tension, and without tangles. The word "spool" covers everything from the small plastic bobbins inside a sewing machine to the massive cardboard cones holding industrial yarn on a mill floor. What unifies them is their function: they are storage devices, tension-management devices, and feed systems all at once.
