What Storage Hooks and Racks Are
A storage hook is a fastened hardware component designed to support a load suspended from it. A storage rack is a framework or shelving system designed to support load distributed across its surface or hung from its structure. Both are load-bearing devices. Neither is decorative, and neither is passive. The moment you attach one to a wall, bolt it to a floor, or hang something from it, you've created a structural system that has to do mechanical work every second it's in use.
In a warehouse, a pallet rack holds pallets of goods weighing hundreds of pounds each, stacked several levels high.
