A shower curtain ring is a fastened loop of material—typically metal or reinforced plastic—that hangs from a rod or track and supports the weight and lateral stress of a shower curtain in use. That simple description hides the real engineering challenge: a ring must suspend a water-soaked fabric curtain, absorb repeated sliding friction from a gliding hook or eye, resist corrosion in a high-humidity environment, and do all of this for years without failure or deterioration.
