The primary function of a shoe bag is to create a barrier between footwear and the surrounding environment. Shoes left exposed in a closet or storage area encounter dust particles that settle on the surface and work into fabric and seams. They absorb odors from adjacent items and spaces. Natural light—especially sunlight—fades colors and weakens materials over time. Humidity fluctuations cause leather to expand and contract, potentially warping the shoe structure.
