A pet hair dryer is a blower designed to remove water from an animal's coat. That is its singular purpose. While the basic concept seems simple, the engineering and the practical application are far more specific than a casual glance at a product page would suggest. A human hair dryer accelerates water evaporation with intense, focused heat. A pet hair dryer does not work that way. It uses a combination of high-velocity air and moderate heat to physically push water droplets off the hair shaft and out of the undercoat, rather than relying primarily on heat to evaporate the moisture.
This distinction is crucial. Consider a dense-coated breed like a Golden Retriever or a Siberian Husky. The undercoat is a thick, woolly layer that traps dead hair and moisture close to the skin. If you point a standard human hair dryer at this coat, the heat will scorch the outer guard hairs and the skin underneath before it ever dries the undercoat.
