Imagine stepping onto a sheet of ice for the first time. Your ankles are wobbling, your fingers are already cold, and the surface in front of you looks utterly unyielding. The person next to you—maybe a ten-year-old, maybe a retiree—swoops past with a casual glide that looks effortless. You take a step. Your foot slides forward. Your other foot stays put.
