We're talking about the stuff that plugs into the wall, runs on batteries, or transmits signals through the air. Not the microchip inside your laptop — that's a computer engineer or a semiconductor specialist. Instead, think about the control system that runs a factory's robotic arm, the radar on a naval ship, the avionics in a commercial jet, the power distribution board in an electric vehicle, or the medical monitor that tracks a patient's heart rate in the ICU. If you're imagining a 100% hands-on job where you're always twiddling knobs on a prototype, slow down.
