At its core, agricultural engineering is about designing, building, and improving the machines, structures, and systems that produce and process food, fiber, and fuel. That sounds broad, and it is. But in practice, most agricultural engineers fall into one of four main buckets: machinery and equipment design, soil and water management, food and bioprocess engineering, or precision agriculture and data systems. If you're a machinery engineer, your job is to design the equipment that plants, harvests, irrigates, and processes crops. That means combines, tractors, planters, sprayers, balers, and the implements attached to them. Your day is spent in a computer-aided design (CAD) program like SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor, modeling a new component, running stress simulations, and then walking out
