A "Structural Metal Fabricator and Fitter" isn't one single role - it's two jobs that are often wedged together on the same crew, and sometimes on the same person, depending on the size of the shop or the project. Structural metal fabricators cut, shape, and assemble steel and other metals into the frames and support structures that hold up buildings, bridges, towers, industrial plants, and even ships. A "fitter" is the person who lays out the pieces, aligns them, and holds them in place for the welder. A "fabricator" is a broader term - it covers the whole process of cutting, drilling, bending, and assembling the metal, and it often includes welding too.
