Let's start with the image you probably have in your head: a quiet room, bright lights, a person in a white coat peering into a microscope, making a breakthrough that will change the world. A biological technician — sometimes called a lab tech, research technician, or laboratory assistant — is someone who performs the physical tasks that make scientific discovery possible.
